Watch out for those FLUFF cameras!
Fediverse, tell me about Open Source options for a CRM system for small/medium non-profit enterprises.
I'm considering pitching another project for a sovereign/local tech stack review for non-tech small enterprises. Seems really hard to pry them out of cloud-hosted enterprise software.
I'd love to find a way to be a fractional Technical Services&Implementations analyst for 3-4 small orgs, rather than sell my soul for a corporate paycheque forcing 100's of clients onto one commercial system.

@docteurslump@ludosphere.fr @breizh@pleroma.breizh.pm @thias@mastodon.social Plusonisme foudroyant ?

She arrived at #Auschwitz on 23 August 1942 in a transport of 1,000 Jews deported from Drancy. She was among 892 of them murdered in gas chamber after the selection.

Brillant.

Just picked up half our straw for the year under an eclipsed moon. COOL. Managed 3 truckloads tonight, will have to get the rest tomorrow.
If the moon is up for you right now, go look at it! It's FREAKY.
@sundogplanets I feel like straw gathered under these conditions should be magical.

Great to see sourcehut adapt a broad policy to not allow any original content on their service that is generated by LLMs and other gen "AI" tools!

people who write "typical" academic papers write trash. Seriously all that passive voice garbage and adding in jargon to sound fancy and soforth.
All my homies write atypical academic papers.
Passive voice stopped being recommended for academic writing in the 1980s (sorry, couldn’t resist it!). Modern academic style is active.
But this doesn’t help readability because the filter is ‘does this sound impressive to reviewers’. I’ve had to fight for a paper more than once in a PC meeting because it was too obvious and incremental. Why was it obvious? Because the authors explained the problem so clearly that the solution fell out naturally. But you can’t come up with that clear framing of the problem until you’ve found the solution.
One of my favourite papers is like this: it starts describing a simple spinlock and then frames the problem as ‘how do we build a spinlock that minimises cache coherency traffic?’. It then shows a bunch of designs that address a limitation. The first time I read the paper, I came up with each of their solutions before I read it because they framed the problem so clearly that it was the obvious solution. Then they refined the problem based on limitations of the approach and did it again. Before reading it, I hadn’t considered any except the first approach.
Should we not (should an economist not) be asking: How did we find ourselves in a situation where the agenda is being set by a bunch of astronomically wealthy sociopaths?

Unser wissenschaftliches online-Whiskytasting am 17. September.
