@artemis right; the passive voice is a passive-aggressive exclusion, feigning some kind of godlike objectively immovable mechanism.
I identify with the protagonist, and whenever anyone says "everyone" in my life, I get ready to assert that I am part of "everyone" too (or evaluate if the fight would be worth it).
a part of me is a bit jel you even have family gatherings you are invited to. But being your family makes the steamrolling over your preferences and denial of your needs painful.

I am shopping around for attorneys to sue a couple businesses over their use of AI and automated voice customer service.

Due to my Parkinson's Plus, MSA, I have speech issues and over this past month, at multiple businesses, I haven't been able to get past their AI customer service loop to speak to a human because the AI can't understand me.

I even made an #ADA request for a human worker to the AI prompt.

I am going to sue to try to force their AI to understand an ADA prompt, or offer one, to bypass the AI/voice only customer support and directly connect to a human. #AI

One issue is, I talk slow and deliberate because I have to get the words out and some phrases are slower than others and AI customer support is too impatient to wait and moves on mid-sentence, not understanding my request

I can see the issue I am having is because I am trying to follow the source code of the original 8080 Tiny BASIC so closely.

I do not necessarily need to copy every single detail, but, the process has been rewarding. In the end I was able to learn how to do macros.

Given I have my tool chain set up nicely, perhaps I could experiment with my own execution engine.

The Tiny BASIC should be based around what is useful to the project.

Vance and rest of pro-data center crowd keeps saying that if electric bills don't go up everyone will embrace nearby data centers. They can generate their own electricity they claim! Problem is the way they're doing it is with polluting gas generators. Vance says there's a solution, they're going to let the data centers build their own nuke plants. Oh yeah, the locals will love having their once unspoiled rural lands ruined by monstrous, noisy data centers and a nearby nuclear power plant. After all, what could go wrong?

But hardware support among these alternative operating systems is inconsistent (with NetBSD sitting at the top of the pile, but well under Linux and Windows.)

And, as with all things, there are degrees to all this. I recognize that I will probably end up having to make compromises in some of the things that I use in order to continue to do much of the work that I want to do.

In much the same way that I begrudgingly keep a windows 10 box around so that I can interface with some windows only hardware, I will allow Linux on devices that support Linux, or for activities that I can't perform in other environments unless/until I can afford to replace them.

@NewsHund @kelleynnn Of all the issues with generative AI, the one that frustrates me most is entirely preventable. Even after saving hours or days of work, people can’t be arsed to even glance at the output before uncritically sharing it with others.

The shift from "you need to optimize your thinking/rationality" to "yeah, LLM use breaks your cognitive abilities but what can you do" that so many middle aged men went through is literally brainmelting.
