I'll quote us directly once again:
We truly value the partnership with @openstreetmap
Every year through our Lifetime Fundraiser, we back organizations that are making a real difference.
On top of this, funds are allocated from each year's Fundraiser in order to support past beneficiaries.
See you for the next one...

@ClarusPlusPlus never forget how cool computers used to be
@ErikUden Ja genau!
#badfeeling
lmao
@shinmera oh same

I wonder if it‘s an LLM on the other side but I‘ve now gotten like 3 teams meeting invites (that i‘ve of course no-showed for) so possibly not?
Climate optimism from a French village destroyed by wildfire:
"The mayor, Martial Zaninetti, who is not affiliated with any political party, said that after 35 years living in Le Porge, he had discovered "a new face of community." Mathou Lantié, a volunteer at the community café La Grange A Tiroirs – where villagers gather for activities, a drink or conversation – said that "all the barriers have come down between generations, the masks have dropped. We talk, we give and receive like never before." She has met more people since July 21 than she had in 20 years living here."

This is not some hollywood dystopia - that's really telling you about the wealthy and privileged's fear, that social collapse implies lawless violence - this is reality: that in the face of disaster, people co-operate, selflessly help each other, rediscover a humanity and community they had almost forgotten, or that had been almost hidden from them.

Her remake of Collective Soul's "Shine" a couple years ago was a trip 😁

@me_valentijn @ai6yr - Shine is one of my favorite songs and Collective Soul one of my favorite bands from growing up. I never knew she covered this.
Damn, this sounds amazing.
'What will we have left if we stop loving summer?' - https://archive.is/9CelY#selection-3355.0-3355.50
It's true - they stole our summer.
All the things you look forward to summer for - picnics, country walks, gardening, days at the seaside - you can't do, because (here in France) it's too fucking hot.
So you stay indoors, like winter.
@GeofCox it seems benign compared to a loss of 50% of agricultural production...

Something that bothers me about the push for digital sovereignty is that a lot of it seems to be motivated by nationalism and anti-American sentiment. That's why we need standards and federation, so instead of just switching to an instant messaging server run by some European tech company, I can keep using my self-hosted one.

@daniel I agree that it should be about actual sovereignty.
However, trust in the US has really been lost. Permanently for the foreseeable future. And American liberalism and capitalism (and I‘m really no socialist) have created some of the most evil companies on this planet. The EU offers some hefty regulation on privacy. So I understand every European, especially non-tech savvy people who just opt for a European alternative.

@Marloezovic ik was het specifiek aan het maken met de https://social.overheid.nl instance in mijn achterhoofd, gezien dat meer en meer gebruikt wordt.

@eco_amandine Oof I made the mistake of reading YouTube comments again 🤦️
Jean-Christophe Filliâtre listed his favorite computer science books and explained why he likes them. There are some great ones I didn't know, as well as a classic co-written by @robpike Rob Pike.
Notably, the most recent book was published in 2011.
thing is, i arranged my whole life around my work. the silly idea was that once there was achievement, a secure income, i would have time for decorating the house, for being with family and friends, for a real vacation, all activities that i consider frivolous as long as nothing's done. i guess time really makes fools of us all.
@lritter would an alternative to that path have been possible at all though 🤷♀️
we went to have a look at the Gloucestershire long-tailed shrike on Sunday and he didn’t disappoint! what an awesome bird to watch. The third ever recorded in Britain and he’s very far from home
