@hananc

@emeline Coucou Emeline !
Reviews like this make the blood, sweat and tears working on this adventure game while being an underpaid social worker in the US ghetto worth it. And yeah, let's make cyberpunk PUNK again! https://store.steampowered.com/app/4611140/Neofeud_2/ #indiegame #indiedev #SteamDeals
And because I can't resist it, if it was up to me, DESNZ would be championing a mixed model in which low-intensity services would get shifted off hyperscale infra onto something more suitable and sustainable and tech companies would be bidding for compute/inference licenses

i'm gonna be honest if "company buying as many books as possible and shredding them to power their machine that produces falsehoods to placate the masses" was a metaphor in your story i would call you a bad writer but here we fucking are today

The orchard's been bent
by the sweet weight of peaches
we pluck with delight
(We went to a local orchard for peaches this week and it is an incredible sweet crop, with branches dangling near the ground, so weighted with fruit. The taste is incredible).
Good morning Fedi friends!
I'd like to create a custom #Fediverse t-shirt for my upcoming talk at #BerlinFediDay.
I thought of maybe using the Fediverse logo as the "O" for "HOPE". What do you think? Trying to gauge if it's cheesy or not, I'd love some external opinion 😅
@_elena at a first glance I thought it was "hype" instead of hope.
zombie vraie AOP. attention !
Anyway, just leaving that there with the observation that all of tech policy is just basically different flavours of men being emotional about things and really what am I doing with my life
"At least 35,000 more people died during Europe’s four record-breaking, back-to-back heatwaves this summer than would normally be expected, according to incomplete figures from barely half the continent."
A beautiful day teaching coil basketry at Laughton Greenwood 's tenth anniversary celebration yesterday. This was surprisingly emotional for me, I was involved with getting this project set up ten years ago, taking minutes, organizing events, setting up websites and social media and then moving on to some hands on volunteering once the land was actually secured. It's incredible to see how far it's progressed in ten years.

#Laughton Greenwood near #Lewes and #Brighton is a lovely community owned woodland restoration project, currently looking for a community engagement officer to attract more people into the wood. And also to make Laughton Greenwood more welcoming and accessible to people who may not always feel that woodland, conservation or wellbeing activities are for them. Applications from people not traditionally represented in the outdoors/conservation sector welcome.
8hrs a week, £20 an hour, 12 month project.

It's a brilliant project, I've done a fair bit of volunteering with them over the years (see post above). It's actually where my profile picture was taken. So you too could get a nice picture of yourself and stick it on Mastodon forgetting you're brandishing an axe in it then get surprised when people mention it, and as a bonus get paid for it.
My wife and I do lots of BBC crime, and we've been pleased with a show called "New Tricks", which is short-arc cold-case murder dramedy. It has the most awful theme song, but it's charming, and one can come rather quickly to feel affection for the characters.
There's this character, Brian (the great Alun Armstrong), and he's some kind of aging neuro-diverse uber-dork. And he's married. And his wife is the absolute *epitome* of "long-suffering".
I think my wife identifies with her strongly.
@GeePawHill incidentally, did you know that theme song is sung by Denis Waterman, the actor playing Gerry Standing?
The other oddity I recall from that show is that the actress playing Brian Lane's wife, Susan Jameson, is actually married to James Bolam, who plays Jack Halford.
It's annoying that 'don't ask me for sources because I want you to read sources without any possible bias from my pre-filtering of sources that support my point' and 'don't ask me for sources because I just made this up' are indistinguishable from the outside.
@david_chisnall you can't ask people to do their own research without sounding like one of those people who claims to have "done their own research".
I also think now would be a really good time to pivot the digital govt strategy - the sweet spot is to give people as much convenience as possible without making reliance on your phone a "must have" for participation in daily life. Makes no sense for Burnham to lean on a centralised digital state
Anyway, some thoughts on that at the end of this AI in the Street paper www.careful.industries/ai-in-the-st... however worth also saying that public opinion can seem to move slowly till it moves very fast indeed
