Why is it that "the best plan for everyone" is almost never the best plan for me? You'd think sometimes I'd win!
But by the time I object to the plan other people made after soliciting no input from me: "it's already been decided."

@artemis right; the passive voice is a passive-aggressive exclusion, feigning some kind of godlike objectively immovable mechanism.
I identify with the protagonist, and whenever anyone says "everyone" in my life, I get ready to assert that I am part of "everyone" too (or evaluate if the fight would be worth it).
a part of me is a bit jel you even have family gatherings you are invited to. But being your family makes the steamrolling over your preferences and denial of your needs painful.
