If you've never been there/read up on it, Bangkok's greater metropolitan area is home to over 17 million people—we're talking New York/London in scale—and is on the Chao Phraya river delta in reclaimed swampland. There are canals, and drainage is a perpetual problem.

This is as bad as the entire Netherlands facing inundation.

Today a social media algorithm showed me a post stoking outrage about the cost of a local library's holdings.

One of the top comments was a thread started by a parent who whose child had donated those works to the library before passing away.

What started as an argument continued as a tribute. <3

More scientific research is published now than at any previous point in history, and yet the majority of it never makes its way to the general public. This is only getting worse now that the billionaires have completely taken over legacy media. @briefecology is an attempt to improve this situation, by focusing on recent ecological research and exploring how to improve nature-society relations.
