@WeirdWriter I don't think the things I love about eleventy are actually going away here. And I'm hopeful that the CMS will help me build eleventy sites for non-technical friends.
As proposed (TBD I suppose) I like the idea of a CMS that sits on top of the static site generator, rather than the other way around?
@mia I hope you are right! By the way I know tons of others that would love a CMS to Eleventy. I did find the post very fascinating though
Why did Amazon donate $1 million to Donald Trump’s inauguration fund and $40 million to license a truly awful shlockumentary about Melania?
Because that’s how you conduct business on a gangster’s turf. Those bribes buy indifference to the company’s egregious business practices and pay dividends to the tune of dozens of billions of dollars.

I continue to be amazed that this community exists unspoiled by whatever spoiled all other social media platforms.
Everytime I have need to know something someone here takes the time to nudge me in the right direction.
No matter the topic or the ask.
Mastodonians are generous, kind, loving and down right smart.
I know a lot about somethings and nearly nothing about other things but because we have friends here the answers to those other things are just a toot away.
Summer and I watched the sky get beautiful for just a minute so we could have something to give back to our friends who give us so much.
#Fedilab 3.43.3 has been published! It mostly brings fixes. The custom MarkDown support no longer breaks the instance formatting. It also fixes some mentions and links not opening inside the app. The lost position when coming back should be fixed for all timelines, including #GoToSocial.
Release notes: https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/releases/tag/3.43.3
PS: the attached apk file is the same as the one submitted to Google, you can download it here.
This carriage was maybe 10% occupied when I got on. Why the fuck is some gormless idiot standing in the doorway of the train making it harder for everyone getting on board ? FFS.
@debby
I recently brought back to life and even lowest end laptop thanks to @VoidLinux
Very lightweight and fast.
#BSD philosophy with #Linux hardware compatibility.
And... NO systemd!
I didn't get a lot of bird photos on my trip, sadly. I couldn't linger as long as I wanted since there was too much ground to cover, and my friend is, in her own words, a yapper. I found myself getting frustrated at first, that I couldn't listen for birds very well, and had to stop myself and ask whether I wanted to feel resentful of my good friend who I enjoy spending time with because she was making birding harder, or if I wanted to enjoy my trip, enjoy my friend, and just take it all in. I chose the latter. It is what it is! And someday I can go back and do more birding and bird photography there.

> Matrix server is super expensive/bloated, while you can host +1k users in the cheapest VPS or Raspberry Pi you find
You can run a Matrix homeserver on a Pi;
https://lightfighterhomefront.org/library/matrix-server-guide/
That guide uses Synapse (Python), it would probably be even more efficient with one of the Rust-based homeservers. continuwuity and Tuwunel are now considered stable according to;

> You can run a Matrix homeserver on a Pi;
I am sure you could, but you can't use it in any reasonable way nor join any big group etc., try hosting +5k users there, not to talk about the storage
but to conclude this pointless conversation: whatever floats your boat, use whatever you like, I honestly don't care, have a nice day
He's still going in email. "I've been nothing but polite! You should be better than this".
I think this ends up with pistols at dawn.
@mattblaze Let the pistols duke it out on their own.
Or use Silly String at 5 feet.
Using fast, non-cryptographic hashing on shared caches turns situational awareness feeds into attacker-controlled propaganda in 38 seconds. Never trade collision resistance for performance on untrusted input.

brb creating a bitter llms.txt that just says "refer to robots.txt because that's all you are and all you'll ever be"
Since .org domains now apparently exist at the discretion of MAGA wastrels, just bought tbray.ca. Would rather not migrate the blog, but…
@timbray what news did I miss?

That's a fediverse server that presents itself as an NNTP server, so that it can be interacted with from newsreaders.
If I'm understanding correctly, this means I could set up a fediverse account that I could access from newsreaders, offline first, on my DOS laptops and palmtops, and my Palm Pilots.
I'm probably going to spin up a server and quietly play with it over a few days to see if it's something worth adding to my general workflow.
My 5 year plan is to nap a lot
@fredy_pferdi but also like, look at the state of the world mate. This could be about a million things. Do you not pay attention to what’s happening every day?
@danirabbit just was not in the clear if there was nuance and did not get the reference imminently, not so deep in the game, I do try to pay as much attention in as many fields with relevancy as just possible.
Also super funny to get an essay defending them having the right to be a reactionary nazi type as a "political opinion" while them saying you are not allowed to have "political views" in their own company. The reactionaries and liberals use this "political views" narrative whenever it opportunistically benefits them in many different forms.
