I don't want to get my hosts in trouble, nor do I think it's the most effective way of educating people how stupid and unenforceable the law is by arguing with service workers who are just trying to get by.
so I make a good-faith to comply, confuse the shite out of people, and move on.

@toddtyrtle And I did! ...like, I would sit down and read enough of the manual that I had a sense of the overall layout of things, then start playing with the software, and eventually just use the manual for reference.
(#whoRemembers looking up functions in printed indexes... I wouldn't go back, but it was fun.)
(unless there's a readily accessible accessible [pun intended] signed toilet, which also works fine for avoiding confusion, but most of London was built before wheelchair accessibility was a thing and once again I must remind people that this is not a workable long-term solution)

Anyone interested in taking this foldable couch off my hands?
It's ~200cm long, ~80cm wide (folded), ~140cm wide (unfolded) - it should be able to dismantle it into 2-3 larger parts.
It has served me well, but I can't take it with me to Mainz.
That's why I'm giving it away for free, only 2 conditions:
1) you take care of transporting it
2) it has to happen until October 31st

(I think, mine broke down in the end, but I studied almost as long as an FDP MP.)
I am glad that leap seconds are gone, but also annoyed that they ever existed. Time zones are typically an hour wide, some places use the same time zone for geographic regions that span 2-3 1/24s of the Earth's rotation.
This means, simply as an artefact of not living exactly at the centre of a time zone region, the offset between high noon and clock noon is likely to be at least half an hour, possibly over an hour.
Leap seconds correct for the fact that this may have drifted an additional 1-2 seconds in a year. It's second level precision in a thing where the accuracy is measured in tens of minutes.
And that extra precision came with a huge amount of complexity that everyone had to deal with.
There are certain neighborhoods in NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, and so on where leap seconds still thrive.

@toddtyrtle My positive associations are more with the thick paperbound sets of manuals that would come with compilers and such -- mainly Borland. I still have a bunch of those.
...and the three-ring tech manuals for DOS and BIOS interrupts, though they were less pleasant to work with...

I've found a few options. The problem with those options is that none of them have the option to pay with iDeal/Wero (Wero being the new international name). I don't want to put money in an envelop, pay with Paypal or a US creditcard, or pay with a shady crypto currency. But maybe I have no choice. 😢
So what are the options:

Targeted ads discovered which are zero-click spyware which can de-anonymize, fingerprint, and automatically infect devices the moment an advertisement is rendered
“Devices at international news network Al Jazeera were infected with mercenary spyware from Candiru (rebranded as “Integrity Labs”) via targeted online advertisements.
The malicious advertisements were purchased by Discover-Tech, an Israeli company that presents itself as a legitimate advertising company, but which we found operates as a facilitator for multiple mercenary spyware partners.
Discover-Tech operates a platform called Controlium that enables its mercenary partners to de-anonymize, fingerprint, and automatically infect devices the moment an advertisement is rendered — a form of zero-click attack.”
