I long for a cool, clear, dark night. We really are just tiny specks of stardust hurtling around in the vastness of space. It's an extremely grounding sight. It should be required viewing.

@jonny now that is interesting, I've seen a lot of posts on reddit (i know big mistake visiting it) about how good astra is with blender, like you supply some schematics and getting a nice looking model out (with thousand of separate elements lol) and that will mean that with blender being free and astra being "soo good" that it will be used in movie studios and all that. If those costs are really for single mouse movement, i dont see it being cheaper than paying some human to do the model.
But what do I know? Big studios will probably prefer a bot that a humans who might dare to unionize.
@astromateusz
Two other possibilities are that they just suck at data viz and mix two transformations of the data (recursively on the table because any expectations of competence are undermined by the fact that LLMs certainly produced the document in some critical way), and also that the numbers are just made up (tautologically true because the api costs are made up, but you know what I mean)
I have not tried this myself, but if it actually was 10 cents per mouse move it would be too funny to be real anyway, the universe cannot tolerate a vacuum of something so funny
@tessarakt @krupo @pluralistic DATEV does the same stuff any big cooperate does. Rent instead of buy your software. Put everything in an US cloud. If you want to leave, to bad. Pay to export your data in a format no other tool can read, because they never released the specs.

@bagder I wouldn’t mind knowing how much use it got.

@joergi We shipped the patch as a database migration, and I recently shipped the fix for post editing.
Performance Fix: https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/commit/d3746bc8ceb1e3954a85a5d4cf07981e54ed8d59
Post Edit Fix: https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/commit/d7cfd072049811dd63f2d1d4f09593e3adca000f
@pixelfed
"Shipping" is for me something different than releasing a release with a patch.
The official release is still 0.12.9
You do so many fixes, but as long as it's not released, how should we know which commit is safe to roll out? Pixelfed.social is not showing which commit it's running, so it's hard for others to guess.
Just a more regular release with all the patches would be great.

Eight years ago we introduced DoH in #curl as I had just written the implementation for Firefox...

@fulelo Here are four stumbling blocks set into a pavement in Magdeburg, a memorial to four members of one family, three deported and murdered, one met with an unknown fate.
Magdeburg is, of course, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt, the eastern German state which has just decided it quite likes Nazis after all. I guess the stumbling blocks just weren’t high enough.

@zzt there's financial incentive to this bogus claim: declaring AGI means they're decoupled from Microsoft, essential to their pending IPO
When OpenAI says it has reached Artificial General Intelligence, […], that claim will have to be verified by an independent expert panel, Microsoft said. The revenue share agreement between the two companies will remain until that panel verifies AGI.

Oh Monday again... I designed a little magnet to keep you motivated 🦥
Have a nice day 😊
Here's an opportunity to help the next generation document queer history firsthand. Chance Earles is a Louisiana college student making a film on queer people of faith as a senior thesis. You can be sure this is the first but not the last film this creative young person will make. Their fundraising goal is only $625 short. I don't have an especially close connection to the project but Chance comes highly recommended.
Please give as you can, and boost! Thx.
Starting the day with some Arab Strap. From their latest album "Half Told Tales" the song "You You"

"[..] I've got tears in my eyes again tonight
As the tyrannised unite and fight
There's a fiery frog in my throat now
From all that singing, bella ciao
I've got my day in court that can't be missed
'Cause the government claims I'm a terrorist
I fear for my son, I fear for my daughter
But in this world of slaughter"
Però ve ne dovete andare a cagare, rossobruni. Prima di subito, anche.
