I just had an 'early squamous cell carcinoma' site treated because of a toot I saw here just weeks ago. Read this. Remember this. Boost this.

I had a tiny red spot on the bridge of my nose. THE SKIN NEVER QUITE HEALED – and that's what I remember from this person's toot (that I can't find, sorry). A scaly bit of skin that never quite heals.

A few weeks later, with that toot in my mind, I just saw a dermatologist here in Japan. Early squamous cell carcinoma is the one you want: she froze that bit of skin and hopefully* that's the end of the story.

Had I not read that toot, it would have taken me a lot longer to realise something was up. The area was tiny; the 'not healing' slight. But I knew it wasn't right, because of this toot.

Treatment was quick and painless. Nothing to worry about.

Thank you, whoever that was. And I hope yours is okay as well.

(*Not _necessarily_. Requires post-heal monitoring to ensure it was skin-level and hasn't gone deeper.)

@smallcircles Nicely written. I think a slight shift to #sociosphere has begun in #FOSS, where human collaboration and discussions have started mattering more than code pushes.

On that note I've been recently working on a formal definition of human-centric open source software (HCOSS), which essentially is sociosphere over technosphere for FOSS projects, and I think it could be a part of the "consumer" layer of pro-social web, and that seems wonderful 💎

Totally. The way #AI wrecks #FOSS culture leads to a lot of soul searching on the merits of the FOSS model we always held dear. FOSS in-the-large may be complicit even to the rise of #BigTech and #LLM, while for individual participants - all working on proper principles and values - it is inherently unsustainable, a burnout factory.

I think AI also opens opportunities. Corporations using it further retracted from directly service people, leaving empty space, niches for small initiatives to occupy and focus on humaness, real human-to-human connection we crave.

#HCOSS fits perfectly.

Social experience design #SX uses the concept of #SOSS here. See the quoted toot. FOSS software is delivered via Social supply chains, where the needs of all participants in the delivery process are considered.

This concept fits perfectly with the solution-oriented #ActivityPub fediverse of #apps and #services, to offer support. #ForgeFed makes a start on this path.

see this is also why the "natural" numbers are actually incredibly un natural imho. whereas finite fields and the complex plane naturally encode periodicity and phase offsets, the set [1,∞) is completely "unrolled" by comparison. what does it mean to add a number at all?

@kirschner @noujoum Also have a look at Google Stedia Controllers. After discontinued the Stedia service (Streaming games) they provided an update to make the controllers usable for other devices. But even this service was discontinued. Another prominent example is the Spotify car thing (not sure if correct name).
