"responsible LLM usage" is the "clean coal" of the tech world
In light of the Debian shit, doubts about other distros, and a slopped 7.x Linux kernel, some practical advice for how to survive the collapse of this bubble and whatever comes afterwards...

It's okay if you don’t get this because my audience is specifically geared toward people who are familiar with the bussy.
We love you, Slice!
Et tu, #debian ?
What a bummer.
The access lasted for about two hours, during which the homepage of noblogs.org was changed, and we cannot rule out that the attacker may have had access to the users' database, which contains the list of email addresses of the people who manage the blogs and their passwords (not in plain text).
No IP addresses, neither of those who write nor of those who read, are stored on the server.
Our blog Cavallette automatically publishes to our Mastodon profile, so a post written by the attacker was also reposted there.
We recommend that anyone with the Mastodon Autopost plugin enabled on their blog, as we do, immediately change the password of their social account and revoke Noblogs' authorization from Profile Settings → Account → Authorized Apps.
For now, noblogs.org is UP and online in read-only mode.
@Illuminatus @swope @nyrath He didn't invent the "Dark Forest". If you want some earlier work, see Fred Saberhagen's Berserker stories, or (1980s update) Greg Bear's "The Forge of God"/"Anvil of Stars" duology.
A single signature by Trump can remove you from the internet

"A new David-versus-Goliath battle is being waged on the internet, after the U.S. government’s war against Julian Assange and #WikiLeaks. This time, the epicenter is Italy, and David is an Italian volunteer organization – a tiny collective of low-profile individuals who create and distribute encrypted email accounts, blogs, and mailing lists for free.

Defend Autistici/Inventati: The server called paranoia [en]
For twenty-five years, an Italian hacker collective has built communications infrastructure designed to survive censorship, surveillance and police raids. On August 26, the United States designated it a terrorist organization. On September 25, the wind-down period ends.

It should have been a dark and stormy night in an Italian hacklab.

Iceland currently polling to say “no” to EU ascension talks by roughly 52:48, largely because of fish and “sovereignty”, all of which is giving me some rather nasty deja vu in a combined British/Icelandic household. :/
Very much hoping the polls are wrong, but then that hope didn’t work out last time. (Obvs, at least Iceland is in the single market, unlike the UK, but still.)
Maybe "mute" frames it wrong. 99 times out 100, I'm just "tuning out." I'm not silencing you, you just weren't the signal I was trying to pick up.
I once worked out a series of events by which humans could destroy the Moon and reduce the Earth's surface to magma.
It would require a couple of hundred years and a truly outrageous number of nuclear bombs to run asteroids into one another until much of the asteroid belt was destabilized.
But we could do it.
Let's not.
@michael_w_busch @cstross @swope @nyrath I do not want to read that scifi novel. Please do not write it!
I promise I’m not a terrible person, but if you eat my food without asking me first, I will cut you

You don't look familiar but now I'm sure we've met.
