Today's Daily Create:
#tdc5339 #ds106 #dailycreate Thank you #MYFest26 for Coming to the Daily Create
https://daily.ds106.us/tdc5339/
The DS106 was on the schedule the past three months for Equity Unbound’s MYFest26 (Mid-Year Festival). We set it up so each Daily Create was announced in their Discord Channel and also offered a drop in and create together session in July and in August.
This week is the last one for MYFest26…. so how about making some art to say Thanks for Coming to the Daily Create (spelling need not […]

- Volete sapere quante gomme abbiamo a casa? Le ho contate!
Risponde una delle due:
- Lei ne ha dodici, io undici, lei è in vantaggio
😂

World humanoid robot games show runners breaking records, bursting into flames
Record-breaking robot races are less substantial than household chore challenges.

@arstechnica it's very clever, but also rather lame if you watch to the end of the race and they all run headlong into a vertical spongy mat!
At least when they did that, one of the robots didn't fall over, but most seemed to.
The one I watched with an obstacle course was much more advanced, IMO.

I haven't been able to find an confirmation for my favourite Dolly Parton fact (at least, I hope it's a fact), from the No Such Thing as a Fish podcast a few years back:
Apparently she grew up very close to food poverty (this bit I have been able to confirm from a bunch of interviews) and so, when she could afford to, got into the habit of keeping a sausage or similar in her handbag so that she always had a nourishing snack with her.
This appeals to me because, on top of her many achievements (including being an inspiration to Moclan females across the galaxy), it's such a human thing to do. And also because it probably meant all dogs thought she was their best friend.
@freyablekman I did not! Was it named after Dolly?
@JensJot nope, it is a collective noun for what we later identified as quarks and gluons, and we first (in the 1950s-1960s) thought were just unidentified sub-parts of protons and neutrons , and all particles of a certain kind end with -on. So, part-on…Parton!
While Europe is at war with Russia, Trump flies an American C-17 aircraft to Moscow containing a large convoy of diplomatic vehicles.
Imagine how the US would have responded, if Canada had flown to Berlin in 1945 with the long-term goal of getting some trade going with Hitler because "Canada first".
This White House sides with dictators.
Update: CIA Director Radcliffe on board.
@randahl
The CIA is doing its stuff.

If you're a user of the "opinionated" (LOL) Omarchy distro, you might be a simple few clicks from code execution from your browser
This is a touch more fun than the boring (but seemingly effective?) ClickFix-style attacks where you paste commands into a terminal.

A little #MathML question: is there a way of putting stretchy braces around arbitrary HTML without using JavaScript to resize them?
I've made a thing using ResizeObserver to set the size of stretchy braces to (roughly) the size of the contents: https://resize-brace-wrapper.think.somethingorotherwhatever.com/
Before and after the contents, I have a <math> element containing a stretchy <mo> and an <mspace> whose height is set to the heights of the contents. I couldn't find a foreign element tag in MathML Core, which would let me do it with a single <math> tag.

@RosaCtrl Yeah, it’s a shell, it supports actual structured programming. I quite like it. I was wishing for nominal types in this code, but it’s generally pretty good IMO.
Full of slop now, of course, so I will need to find something else at some point, but not yet.
@davidgerard Imagine saying something like this then whining about people disliking AI and the people pushing it. It's funny how quick AI fans go from victimhood to threats, isn't it? Almost as if it's a fascist project built on the destruction of consent.
