Not exactly shopping for new camera, but when replacing my old camera the new one was better in every specification, but it just didn't feel as intuitive as the (nominally worse) older camera. The older one had everything through buttons and dials, the newer one involved some degree of touchscreen, and fiddling with non-physical on-screen buttons felt like it broke my concentration on the subject. I found myself going back to the old camera even though it was worse in low light etc because the physical button-and-dial interface was just quicker and easier.
@david_chisnall @futurebird this also means that you have know the weights and know the biassing factor to be able read that watermark reliably.
And I am going to bet that Anthropic is not going to release those.
In other words, Anthropic will be the only company offering the slop generator, and the service to tell that something got slop-generated.
That's real power right there. Would they not "tweak" the results if it was useful for them, say, to create a plagiarism scandal around someone?
Yup, that's a legitimate concern. I wouldn't be surprised if they've been doing this for a while anyway to avoid training on their own output, but releasing an API to query gives them a lot of control.
And, of course, you can't detect slop, you can detect slop generated by a specific tool.

@unruhe @AnotherJoe @informapirata @aitech Non so bookabook.
@bortzmeyer @sm4llth1ng happy to help with this, but at the moment we don't have a teen specific leaflet :)

This data on self-censorship among U.S. academic scientists and engineers -- not even humanities people, this is STEM -- is so disturbing.

Worth a watch - and share with those who may not be up to speed on ALPRs.
I still can't believe that Microsoft rebranded "Microsoft Visual Studio" to "Microsoft Visual Studio (Not Responding)"
Truth in advertising.
Hey, remember when the International Criminal Court was locked out of their Microsoft accounts? These people are doing something about that
