@aeva so we hit the 90s and computers have completely revolutionized the financial industry. why? because you can make decisions so much faster! and that means more decisions, which means more money.
the internet is sometimes slow? sometimes down? netscape to the rescue! the internet is an application platform! the application is on the internet! what do you mean down? i'm on the internet right now!
LLMs manifestly cannot code.
They actually can't do it.
I feel like a lot of this debate is kinda like people making reference to a famous book, but no-one has actually read it.
LLMs are a weird bunch of statistics applied to the ordering of symbols.
An LLM is always waiting for a prompt from a human, and will frequently give answers with simple logical errors.
LLMs do not understand what you are saying. They are not alive or conscious or sentient.
They are just another kind of program.

You can replace "LLM" with "JavaScript" in https://blog.codeberg.org/protecting-our-floss-commons-from-llms.html and it all still makes perfect sense.

@jzb That an IPv6-only kernel seems like a feasible thing. When I sent the RFC to the mailing I was expecting push back but found the opposite. At netdevconf plenty of people reach out to me to let me know that their workload was already IPv6 pure in their datacenter.

Anyway yes I do (tend to) have a way with words. But that can also get one into trouble.
I have to be careful. And I know there are times I am not successful. Oh well.
A useful hack!
For 10,000,000 years, I've had a scan of my sig on my computer. When I get sent a form for a signature, I open it in the GIMP, open the signature JPG, paste the latter into the former, set the layer to "multiply" and align it.
This morning, I pasted that same JPG as a *brush*. Now I just select that brush and click once on the signature line!
This is incredibly obvious, but it never occurred to me, and maybe it's useful for you, too.

DID YOU KNOW: In #GoToSocial, if you go to your account settings and change your layout to "Gram-style", you can set the web view of your profile to show an instagram-like grid of photos to visitors.
This is handy for folks that primarily post photographs or other media and want to highlight that when people visit their profile on the web :)

I won’t share the video of the public execution by police of a yet unnamed Black man in Madison, WI.
With four white Madison cops on him, one cop pulled out his firearm and shot the victim in the head at least three times at point blank range. This is a public execution. It is barbaric and indefensible. And it happened blocks away on the same street as in 2015 when a white cop shot and killed a Black man named Tony Robinson.
@QasimRashid This took place a block from my office (Tony Robinson was shot even closer, in the other direction), but I wasn't there at the time. My 18-year-old son told me about it, and wrapped up by telling me that nothing would happen to the cop, because nothing ever happens to cops.
Anyway, I hear Ivermectin cures all diseases and tastes great on ice cream. Eat as much as you want Nazis, don't EVER see a doctor - you can't trust those lib commie swine. Treat yourself at home with household cleaning products. Whatever it takes to get you into a grave and out of our collective lives, as fast as possible - I am for. Drink raw milk, refuse clean water, and inject yourself with as much bleach as you can jam in the syringe. You will not be missed.
