@404mediaco The kids are alright.

Mildy PCR positive for the hantavirus,
reminds me of mildly pregnant ....

Meanwhile, according to this article, 7+ additional people that were on the cruise already returned to the US before the virus was diagnosed. The 7+ reportedly reside in five States...California, Georgia, Texas, Virginia and Arizona. As of the date of this article, 8 May, they are being monitored (by what means not specified), and have not exhibited symptoms.

Global streaming revenue of music still hasn't eclipsed what physical sales used to reap. Though this should probably be plotted against 'musicians average earnings'. Most of this revenue presumably is going to record companies and other industry behemoths.

“Physical formats are coming back?” asked seriously as if somehow they’ll recover more than a tiny percentage of the billions of market share they’ve lost.
@Gueoris
Not a huge Muse fan but I'll give them Knights of Cydonia
The point of the AI is the fascism
It's not an unexpected side effect or a bug
It's the reason they want to make it
@researchfairy Similarly it's a massive enabler of totalitarianism.
Totalitarianism relies on establishing a facts-proof alternative reality for its believers - even moreso than fascism. And GenAI is a fantastic tool if your goal is undermining consensus reality and perpetuating a false one - not just because it generates propaganda and deepfakes, but because it gets facts wrong, makes stuff up, and generally makes it difficult to find true quality information.

I coulda really used a nice warm day out here on the office deck. Just, like, for morale.
It's not freezing or anything, maybe 8-9c, and I do own clothes and am layered up already.
But. Dangit.
Mein kleines BarCamp Bonn Fazit 😇

Every time someone says accessible design isn’t as “pretty” as “normal” design I take psychic damage
@toddconaway We don't have the mountains, but my wife and I are planning on doing a good chunk of this trail nearby next week. She doesn't love road riding anymore, so these bike trails are a nice option.
@brianb That looks wonderful!
Mountains just means hills...
Lots of possibility with the rails to trails. https://www.railstotrails.org/site/greatamericanrailtrail/
Interview 2 went much better (which is good, Saskatoon is where it's most likely that pieces would be found, if there are any pieces) and I remembered to say the email address I want people to send possible space junk finds to! AND I got a better camera setup and actually brushed my hair. But I'm somehow going to end up on CBC national news in my ratty farm sweatshirt AGAIN aren't I?
@sundogplanets IDK I feel like the ratty farm sweatshirt helps your message feel authentic
"I came to Saskatchewan to raise goats and watch stars BUT THESE JERKS STARTED DROPPING STUFF" is compelling

Still masking when in public
By the time they coughed on you
It's too late to back up or mask up
What are some recession indicators that you've seen?
I was in rural Illinois and Indiana this past week, diesel was $7 in both places. I have never seen diesel this expensive.
It also seemed like about half the fields hadn't been plowed yet.
@mavnn @JessTheUnstill @epilonious
it's important to remember the backlash is severe because the progress is real
and also that the young men who broke for Trump because they were promised the rewards of patriarchy are already changing their minds about that
@susankayequinn@wandering.shop @JessTheUnstill@infosec.exchange @epilonious@toot.lgbt
The backlash when there's progress part is undoubtably real; I saw at least a couple of people who were nominally egalitarian just flat out refuse to believe that #metoo was real, for example. And when someone points out to the meeting chair that they have asked the only non-male person to take the minutes again they basically have the choice of deciding they want to change or just deciding that maybe "the women" were really always the problem after all. Doesn't stop the pushback grossing me out though!
