I'm setting up an old netbook (basically an eeepc clone) for a friend, and she just wants to use it for writing in a simple text editor. I thought I'd install Haiku on it, but I had a lot of trouble with the installer and what I ended up with boots astonishingly slow.
Would "BSD" be good for this? (and if so which BSD is the good one?) Open to other suggestions.
@jectoons if you own your own copyright it should be safe but in general they can't sue everyone at once and that's why unfortunately we need to develop the technical and logistical infrastructure to support a breadth of actual decentralization. i mentioned @OpenArchive elsewhere because i really like how they see themselves as a steward of and tech support for all the groups hosting uploaded content (which is often really radioactive stuff that the IA would never defend but is terribly necessary)

This immediately elucidates why nondeterministic finite state automata, and especially nondeterministic pushdown automatas, are so much more nicer than their deterministic counterparts (especially in the case of PDAs where the fun water slide can push you onto the stack and pull you back out of it, which is way more fun and therefore more expressive)
