@juh da hast du aber eine sehr schlechte Meinung von den deutschen Journalisten! Alle schreiben von Bild ab klingt unglaubwürdig. Ich weiss schon, was in der BILD steht, aber dass nur deshalb in D keine Lenkungsabgabe funktioniert klingt doch ziemlich aus der Hüfte geschossen!

As I see it, modern society is no lonely cro^rd, no horde of refugees
fleeing from freedom. It is no Gesellschaft, soulless, egotistical, loveless,
faithless, utterly impersonal and lacking any integrative forces other
than interest or coercion. It is held together by an infinity of personal
attachments, moral obligations in concrete contexts, professional and
creative pride, individual ambition, primordial affinities and a civil
sense which is low in many, high in some, and moderate in most
persons. It might be destroyed by modern warfare, or the exhaustion of

@tzimmer_history You're describing is oldest trick in the book. In fact, it predates books. The trick is simply to unite the people by stoking fear of a perceived common enemy. In this case, racial (and/or religious) minorities. This fear overrides all other priorities, like the rule of law, and even voters' own self-interest.

The problem with this strategy is that it's not sustainable. The "enemy" isn't really an enemy at all. Fear subsides with exposure. Pluralism wins... eventually.
