The [Open Science Community Parkstad](https://openscience-parkstad.nl/) and the [Open Science Community Maastricht](https://www.openscience-maastricht.nl/) invited researchers, educators, students, and anyone curious about Open Science to sign up for the Open Science Festival Limburg 2026. The festival brought our community together across two locations with activities in Heerlen (11 June) and Maastricht (12 June). Over two inspiring days, the participants explored the theme of interdisciplinarity with workshops, keynote presentations, and interactive sessions. There also were plenty of opportunities to connect with colleagues from both within and beyond the two Open Science Communities.

The Virtual Human Platform (VHP) is developed through the VHP4Safety project to support chemical and pharmaceutical safety testing. VHP aims to facilitate the prediction of harmful effects of chemicals and pharmaceuticals by integrating human physiology, chemical properties, and biological pathway disturbances. VHP provides you with human-relevant tools and models for precision safety evaluation, helping you reduce reliance on laboratory animals. With VHP, you can assess chemicals for human use, including vulnerable populations such as infants, the elderly, and individuals with health conditions.
Chemistry is often a field full of barriers—between researchers, between disciplines, and even between data systems. FAIR4ChemNL is here to change that. By promoting open science and developing new data management solutions, this project will make chemistry more accessible, collaborative, and innovative. Our approach brings together experts from across the Netherlands and beyond, ensuring that discoveries in one area of chemistry can benefit others. By sharing data openly and making it easier to work together, we aim to speed up breakthroughs that matter for the future of energy, materials, and more.
