I've explored memory, imagination, technology, and experiences of the natural world across individual, collective, and institutional magnitudes, in work that merges literary, scholarly, and artistic forms of inquiry. I’ve written for such venues as The Atlantic, Harper’s Magazine, and Orion. My 2017 book TREE (Bloomsbury) explores how we do trees—and trees do us. For the Arnold Arboretum, I edit ARNOLDIA, a magazine exploring the nature of trees through art, science, and literature.
