Thanks to inflation, my delusions of grandeur have effectively shrunk to delusions of mediocrity
AI ‘godfather’ Yann LeCun has ‘zero concerns’ about human extinction and thinks Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is ‘deluded’ and ‘crazy’. Yann LeCun dismisses fears of AI extinction and recent hacks at OpenAI and Anthropic, arguing that security breaches comes from poor system design, leaky sandboxes, and a lack of basic cybersecurity in AI labs, not out-of-control AI. These AI are doing as told by these AI labs

Finally somebody said it what I was saying about this nonsense
Feeling very stressed about everything, and I went out to do some astrophotography. I was hoping for auroras, and was first excited to see an orange glow on the horizon, then annoyed as I realized it's probably a combine still harvesting, then delighted again as I realized it's the moon! Hello, moon. (Also hello Pleiades, hello Andromeda galaxy, hello Milky Way, and fuck you, Starlink)
@SRLevine Have to talk the sidewalk. This one is "ARE YOU SERIOUS, WHO PUT THE BIKE LANE HERE IN BETWEEN TRAFFIC" "EXCUSE ME MR. TRUCK THIS IS MY LANE"
Quick thinking on the part of ship captains in the Strait of Hormuz is proving vital to getting oil supplies to the global market as the U.S. and Tehran fail to reach an agreement on reopening the waterway. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/10/02/world/hormuz-oil-risky-job/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #worldnews #oil #lng #us #iran #straitofhormuz #middleeast #energy #globaleconomy #shipping #trade

You would not *believe* how dense his hair is on his body, or how fine the actual hairs are, or how fast they grow.
At times, he looks like he's *30* kg, not 15. His paws and legs seem *enormous*.
But they're not, it's just his hair.
Wally, as depicted here, doesn't care about how the day-sleeping is arranged.
At night, however, he cares very much. Once we're done with the casual sleeping, when we go to bed, Wally feels the only good way to sleep is if there is direct bodily contact between family members.
He nestles in the crook of my knee, usually, and if I move away, he will wake up and re-position himself.
What a weird and unnecessary thing to say.
It is easy to post photos of Molly, cuz she's gorgeous.
Wally is *harder*.
Because he's black, with only a small spot of white on his chest, it's hard to get the right light.
Plus, tbh, he's just not as photogenic as Molly.
But he is a lovely person.
@GeePawHill awww. He’s cute. Reminds me of my dearly departed Finnegan.
@jaypatelani Yep! That’s my response to the flood of obviously-AI content on YouTube.
Shame they never get dates or lists right. And some of those voices are unbearable.
@dexter true. I have shorts disabled on YouTube.

@mttaggart First day of the quarter?
Riot police out all over town. Massive protests expected. Lots of road closures. Walked the last 1km to the Museum. We’re setting up video now for the event. 9 ambassadors expected, many prayers, one for each religion, then our session.
@carlmalamud I knew you were kinda famous but not infamous. What did you do that is triggering protests this time? 😂
In seriousness, I’m on holiday and not following the news. What are the protests actually about?

If his grooming looks like he got run over by a lawnmower, well, this involves relationship shit between my wife and I, and is no fault of his.
(It's hers. It's her fault. She is the culprit.)
We've actually never had dogs before that needed grooming.
