Work is ongoing to reclaim these spaces. It’s not easy and we’re swimming out against a rising swell at this particular moment. But open web builders and moderators are here and working on it.
Maybe there’s a cozier server or service that’s holding up better against the onslaught that would suit you? We’re getting better about that portability and re-homing the lost, too. Not yet awesome at it, but better.
@bstacey I would be sorry to see you go, but that should not stop you from leaving if you feel that's what you have to do.
Every good and enjoyable thing about the Internet is dying under slop, the server load of scrapers fueling slop, and Helen Lovejoy laws. I should get out while the getting is good, or rather, so that my memories aren't of the death throes.
No, I don't know what I'm doing next. (Writing a book that no one will read? No one will read it anyway, whether I'm active in the ruins of the online or not.)
