Wow, that's the first time I've seen it say unavailable for pickup at your local Apple Store, did they make so few Duos that some Apple Stores just aren't getting any?

@christianselig This is the first iPhone I won’t have on launch day since the first iPhone, and I got that on day 2. Hopefully orders will ship early and I’ll get it towards the end of October.
@christianselig my local Apple Store is Battersea, London where Apple have their UK HQ and it had no availability to pick up.
@christianselig I think rumours were they only producing around 8m units this year? Which if true is (not Vision Pro level low) nowhere near the scale of the Pro models. This I guess could be heavenly for flippers… I personally don’t think the initial demand is as high as the delivery dates would suggest but FOMO will kick in

@christianselig in Germany, there were just two 2 TB devices left in Berlin 5 mins ago.
I suppose they are gone by now as well. Other stores were out 4 mins after.
@christianselig because their entire system sucks and I couldn’t get into preorder until 8:18 eastern, I’m looking at December 15-22 delivery.
@christianselig same here! Couldn’t even get into the Apple Store app until 5:04 and by then it wasn’t available for pickup at any of the Portland area stores. My delivery date after waiting so long to get in is Nov. 20 - 30! Must be incredibly low stock.
@christianselig I read the iPhone 18 demand was low. I'm wondering if people are buying the Duo instead?
Personally, the 18 doesn't give me any real compelling reason to upgrade from a 17, and the Duo is just way too pricey to take the risk for a first-gen Apple product.
But I do want to play with one and hope the 2 gen is even better.
@nonproductive Yeah the 18 Pro was super easy to get, I managed to get a day one pickup like 6 hours after preorders opened, haha
@christianselig First time in 16 years I haven’t been able to get a new iPhone on launch day. Placed preorder 2 minutes after 8am. Nov 2-9th window 😔
@christianselig I had my local store selected up to the moment I tapped Place Order, then it became unavailable, and now it’s “An error occurred trying to fulfill your request” hell. Quite disappointing, Apple.
@christianselig I wonder if it's a Canada thing... I live in Toronto and all my local stores said the same.
@christianselig my local stores maybe had some but selecting them and trying to move forward failed miserably and ended with a Nov 2-9 delivery.

@christianselig Same happened with my iPhone Pro Max 1TB order whereas the 2TB model I bought was available in-store. Strange.
