is Ukraine blowing up Yandex datacentres really leading to less misinformation in Germany? I want to believe but I dunno
@decryption curious to know how much One Nation support might be similarly affected.
@bok i wish :(
might have to blow up meta's datacentres for that to happen
@decryption source for that has now recanted

That’s who the bob guy cited down thread
@decryption Lots of people are sharing the graphic from Cloudflare, but that's just "bot" detection - being website spiders, which are a core part of Yandex's business, not "bot" accounts on social media. It seems people aren't making that distinction.
@decryption definitely has the feeling of “too good to be true” for my spidey senses. I really want to believe it, but wouldn’t they just use another data centre?
@rustyshelf and if so much of it was coming from yandex, wouldn't it be easy to just block yandex's AS? (though, does meta or X have any incentive to do that when the ragebait boosts engagement)
@decryption Given the % of the discourse that's conflating social media "bots" and web scraping bots (yandex does run a search engine!), I don't have high hopes...
@decryption a lot of “western” accounts similarly went quiet when Iran dropped off the internet
@yaakov I’m sure someone’s done a study on this, I should try find out
@decryption I believe that the blowing up of the data centres is decreasing the misinformation, but I’m not sure about the actual stats/percentages being reported.
@decryption I’ve heard some is now being routed via Kazakhstan but it’s good to be able to demonstrate that a lot is from Russia
@decryption it's all misinformation Bront
