My kid today: “taxis are insane, they’re like Ubers you don’t need an app for”
@Daojoan wait until they find out about the cheap collective ubers with fixed routes!
@Daojoan Love it, reminds me of my nephew (aroung age 10) hearing analog radio in the car for the first time and asking, "Is this a podcast where they play songs and then talk about them?" Which,, I guess he wasn't wrong.
@Daojoan Some of us--such as myself--are very, very old.
Ubers are taxis. They have always been.
@Daojoan wait until he finds out some pizza places deliver without Uber/didi eats
@Daojoan poor kids... not knowing once upon a time, we used to not give every corporation our personal info.
@Daojoan I’m yet to find a taxi company that doesn’t use an app similar to Uber nowadays (except the hyenas). Also, due to regulations, Uber essentially became a taxi company, at least in Europe.
@Daojoan by the same token, a phone call is like a voice messge with instant reply
@Daojoan and you can know it advance what you're gonna pay.
@Daojoan I've been seeing some complaints that taxis are cheaper than Ubers. Wow. So unfair.
Fun that you mention it, taxis in my country are several orders of magnitude more expensive per kilometer, and they typically require paying in cash.
@Daojoan wait until you tell them about rotary phones. My son seriously thought I was punking him.
