I'm grading student papers, and when I started one tonight I was like "hmmm, that sounds familiar". Weirdly, the paper I graded yesterday has nearly the same start, even though the topics are different. None of the other students in the class used this start, so it's odd that they happened to land next to each other in grading order.
The last paper I graded was *definitely* not generated by an LLM, because the overall paper was quite good in spite of the sentence structure being quite poor (basically the opposite of LLM texts...). We'll see what I think about this one.
(And I'm not really one to talk, because several years ago I realized after publishing a paper that I'd used the identical introductory sentence in another paper written a few years earlier.)
