This reminded me that behind a piece of art there is always intention, the human desire to communicate something and doing so in a deliberate way. There are a hundred surreal, melanconic metaphors in this song, but the most important, the one that hits like a punch as the song ends, requires you to watch it in its entirety. I won't spoil anything, and this is not short in spite of its name, but believe me it's well worth your time.
@gabrielesvelto Aside from the ending and a few short quips (the common man ... gione), I'm sad to say that I didn't get most of it.
@datarama he blends in a lot of biblical references and Greek mythology which is already quite remarkable in a piece so surreal, he adds a lot of extremely pointed criticism of our societies and then weaves into it references to the absurd discourse from AI accelerationists, Effective Altruists and whatnot. If you read the full lyrics it's easier to follow: https://lukenickled.bandcamp.com/track/the-singularity
@datarama and ofc the fact that he sings precisely at dusk, with just enough time for the light to go out slowly but surely until it's completely dark and you can't spot his silhouette anymore. It is really a potent metaphor of our current predicament. We're the frog slowly boiling in the pot, but our pot is made of obscurantism, propaganda and lies. Darkening so slowly you almost can't feel it until you can't see anything anymore.
@gabrielesvelto that was well worth my time.
@gabrielesvelto Luke Nickle is really really good
