Hey #Firefox friends on #Linux - any idea why it has started doing this weird vertical split on YouTube videos?
The right side is noticeably darker and blockier than the left.
Happens on all screens, no matter what size the window.
Doesn't happen on all scenes - but doesn't go away if I switch to 4K.
Happens in an incognito window.
Chromium works fine on the same hardware.
@Edent I don't see that effect on linux, not even on that video.
Firefox 153.1.0esr, Intel Iris Xe graphics.
@Edent Are you using an AMD GPU? If so, this happened to me ~6 weeks ago during a brief window when the amdgpu firmware blob on Arch was updated to a version with a decoding bug.

@shello ah! Yes, I think I do have an AMD graphics card.
Wonder how I can change the firmware on a Framework running Pop? Guess I'll have to do some digging!
@Edent @shello As soon as I saw it I thought it was a quantisation error in the decoder, and lo and behold: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/43787/diffs
@threedaymonk @shello
Any idea if this is something I should report to Pop, Ubuntu, or Framework? I'm totally out of my depth when it comes to low-level stuff like this.
@Edent does it also happen in a 'private window' (icognito thing).
also try making a fresh profile in about:profiles (type that in your url bar) so you have a fully fresh firefox and see if it still happens
@thibaultmol Yes, it happens in incognito mode. Can't be bothered doing the profile thing.
@Edent not hapening to me on ubuntu (framework 13" amd)
