(From Adam Bates)
To be clear: zionism absolutely is racism. The belief that there should be an Ashkenazi ethno-state in Palestine, and that anyone, including the actual indigenous inhabitants of the region, who objects or resists or just happens to be in the way of such an ethno-colonial enterprise forfeits their right to exist is *plainly* racist.
You cannot get to "Israel" without exterminating an entire civilization based on its "failure" to meet the racial standard on which zionism is founded.
Zionism congealed in the late 19th century, at the same time as a lot of other European ethno-colonial projects. It is racism in its purest, most unadulterated form. It's racism from a time when people weren't even embarrassed to call themselves racists and wouldn't have understood why modern zionists even bother to lie about the racist nature of what they advocate.
The inherent racism of zionism is undeniable and unequivocal.
*Sidenote: it's always been a pet peeve of mine when apologist slugs make excuses and lie for movements and ideas that the originators didn't even try to cover up. If you go back and read Herzl it will be painfully obvious that zionism was always, from its inception, a race-centered ethno-nationalist colonial project. He wasn't even religious. The original zionists didn't even TRY to hide this, and the American liberal shits trying to lie about things that their ideological forebears openly admitted, in writing, is beneath contempt and cowardice.

@davemosk I've seen you presenting an understanding of Zionism that's quite different from this, and compatible with defending the rights of Palestinians. Would you like to speak to this?
