@neil I’m reminded of this recent gem from Viz:
@neil I took some fabric plasters with me to @DrupalConEUR last week especially to apply them to any of these glasses pointed in my direction.
@neil My initial thought is that one ought to take them off the smug face and stomp them on the floor!
This is a rhetorical question, because the answer is right there in the article, but what kind of man goes on a date, films their date, then publishes the recording online, without getting enthusiastic consent at each step along the way?
"But Neil, #NotAllMen blah blah blah!"
Do. Better.
@neil ooh, I know answer to this one! Is it … a massive c**t?
"He says beyond posting for the ’gram, a number of factors could be driving men to do this. The most logical, non-creepy reason may be tied to post-date analysis, in that the glasses can help men identify blind spots around their own behavior.
“A lot of men out there are eternal optimizers. They want better, more efficient ways of doing things, so reviewing game tape allows them to learn from mistakes,” Lewandowski says."
This deeply worries me, especially that it's presented without comment or critique. If you want to be better, don't "analyse the footage" - this isn't a professional sport, it's a supposedly meaningful with another human being. Talk to them, and take on board what they say. Legitimising the idea that you can somehow "improve" your "performance" by "analysing the footage" is so problematic.
@neil @dilmandila Anyone wearing Meta’s pervert-specs on a date should have a jug of water thrown in their face, at the very least. And definitely no second date.
@neil I’ve noticed some people wear them at work and it always makes me feel a bit weird. I think they’re just nerds that like the tech rather doing anything untoward but I also don’t feel I can discuss some things in front those people that I would otherwise.
