What has surfaced for me recently on the topic of genAI is how detrimental its reinforcing of individualism is. Of course it interconnects with the countless other issues, and it sits nicely in a continuum of capitalism making humans more selfish, less connected, cooped up at home while entertaining the illusion of independence. But it keeps coming up: it's touted as the everything-tool that saves you asking for help. I breaks communication by people deceiving people.

It makes us suspicious of everything. In software development, it creates unwieldy projects that only make sense to the tool that farted it out (and maybe to the user who prompted the farting). Projects that are less likely to invite collaboration, organic conversations, a process that you collectively feel proud of and feel ownership over. I see it as birthing an era of disposable software, created minutes, then left to rot with no one interested in digging into it (bar LLM ouroboroi).
