cant put them above ground (wahh looks ugly, wahh fire risk) - can't put them underground (wahh, the easement lowers property values, wahh the construction will upset cows) so fuck the entire country yeah? no renewable energy for anyone, leave things the way they are forever so you and a few cows can be left alone
@xssfox pls give me money to fight the effects of climate change or else you’ll have no food
@decryption just lay them across the farm. You won't regret hv cables laying in a field
@xssfox sell “electric milk”
@decryption @xssfox also for beef cattle farmers, they can cash in on the already-made ad from the Kenny Everett Show: “Electric Meat”!
fwiw I’m sure there are legitimate issues and feelings for farmers hosting transmission lines and maybe they weren’t treated or informed or compensated as strongly as they could have, but they’re becoming so belligerent it’s hard to view them as anything other than a huge blocker to moving Australia to 100% renewable electricity and phasing out fossil fuels for electricity generation
there are farmers that think renewables are great and are happy to have these projects on their land, but they’re drowned out by the Facebook-pilled ones (and Facebook is the fertile soil - pun intended - for disinformation campaigns by vested interests in keeping the status quo)

@decryption It's so easy to forget the massive hold that billionaires have on farmers. Once people get that Gina Rinehart has the largest single landholding in the world for agriculture, and she has no lack of Australian friends like the Murdoch + Holmes A Court families, it gets a whole lot easier.
A little out of date, but a killer infographic:
@decryption "Just keep burning brown coal for electricity like we always did"
Two years later: "waaah I need drought relief"
@decryption best build a nukular power plant right there then
@decryption also farmers: "why is tax so expensive"
