Ok nerds, any of you have a favorite small-business craft and/or toy store that is also online and ships? We're trying to get away from Amazon. We're invested in treating employees well, high quality, and are willing to pay maybe 25% more than Amazon or other chain stores.
@willowbl00 Lee Valley Tools is mostly woodworking and other kinds of high quality tools, but around the holidays they have a bunch of lovely gifts as well. https://www.leevalley.com/ For sewing tools, Wawak has been selling and shipping high quality sewing supplies for over 100 years. https://www.wawak.com/
@willowbl00 Our local toy store ships. https://selfservetoys.com/collections/toys
@willowbl00 Toys “R” Us is opening back up in the United States. We always bought many toys at Target, you can show them online United States snd Canada. I’m boycotting them because they caved to DEI but if I had a choice, it would be Target over Amazon any day.
For clothing, we’ve always shopped Old Navy sales, JCP or JCPenney‘s sales.
@willowbl00 Chicory naturalist is an amazing small gift shop focused on nature-inspired toys, books, and games https://chicorynaturalist.com/
Ok same question but for pharmacy-style things in California.
I use iHerb.com and Vitacost.com.
Vitacost used to be owned by Kroger, and I stopped using them for several months when Kroger was being a union-busting prick.
Unfortunately, iHerb and Vitacost *merged*, and the result is a suckier version of both, with a lot of products being silently dropped, or "backordered", yet never restocked.
Also, iHerb relies on LaserShip for delivery, which is a meth-head gig worker hellhole.
@willowbl00 turns out my favorite local toy store in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle has online ordering: https://snapdoodletoys.com/
@willowbl00 Artist & Craftsman Supply is bigger than I thought, but ~12 stores nationwide is still smallish. They're excellent in person, not sure what ordering online is like.
