5AM and *something* in this house is letting out a plaintive beep once per minute.
Doesn't seem to be the smoke alarm, which is a relief!

This fucking carbon monoxide alarm was hiding in the fucking loft on a fucking beam.
I will pay a million fucking quid to anyone who invents a CO detector which sends me a fucking email at five A fucking M rather than disturb my fucking sleep!

@Edent Short chirps once per minute usually indicate end of unit life because they're so infuriating, you just smash the unit onto the floor and stomp on it to get them to stop.
@Edent the constant beeping of the CO alarm was giving me a headache, and making me feel nauseous and drowsy!
@Edent I’ve got one of these zigbee smoke detectors which will notify me via HA rather than beep - https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/TS0205.html. There’s CO detectors too…
@Edent Similar here. Changed batteries in smoke detectors before discovering it was the CO detector. Ours is a sealed unit, and it took some fettling to find the way of disabling it.

@Edent I found a little sticky panel behind which was a jumper, which I removed and lo! No beeping. I can honestly see the appeal of geocaching, having completed that introductory level.

That said, it should be at eye height in the room, not on top of the beam 🤦♂️

CO detectors should be at eye height depending on the usage of the room. Your eyes are at a different height in your bedroom compared to your living room.
@Edent When that happened to me I was pretty sure it was my main server about to die. Turned out it was another smoke alarm that I had forgotten existed.
Also, I think smoke alarm batteries tend to die in the wee hours because the low temperature affects their capacity. Or maybe they are just malicious.
@Edent not sure about the plumbing situation over there, but I’ve got an automatic shutoff for my water heater that decides to do that every six months or so
@Edent the once a minute thing is the most sadistic isn't it. Can't ignore it, can't locate it. Argh.
