@GeePawHill When I was in high school, a friend told me that his older brother, who was off to college, sent the lyrics of Almost Cut My Hair to their parents as a letter. He said his parents freaked out!
@GeePawHill My friend showed me the letter. The song was recently released, and I had heard it on the local AM progressive radio station, so I was able to tell him it was song lyrics and he could reassure his parents.
What a time that was!
Crosby was active on Twitter, back in the day. He was, for me, a kind of *model* of superstar celebrity on social media.
He did a thing where he asked people to roll a joint and send him a photo, and then he'd critique it.
He also just answered random questions about music, his and others. His social media circle was not limited to other celebrities. He'd talk to strangers regularly.
@GeePawHill My heart dog growing up was named after Crosby, except they messed up and left out the R and I had to explain every time that no, he was not named after Bill Cosby.
It's so cool to hear that his real namesake was such an awesome guy!
(Another fun dog fact: Moose's original name at the adoption org was Nash. Felt like that was a sign to get him. Cosby's bro! 😂)
He wrote a lot of songs. But this is my favorite. I told him so, on twitter, one time. He hearted me.
Another time, someone had asked him what he thought about the band Chicago, and before he replied, I piped up with my own opinion, "Cool idea, weak execution."
And he, David Crosby, *replied* to my musical opinion.

One of my favorite David Crosby stories. In Joni Mitchell's memoir, she bitched him out for producing her first album badly.
He was asked by an interviewer about this.
He said that he and Joni had discussed this matter over the years, and that they had a difference of opinion on it. He said he thought he'd done pretty well.
Then he said, "Who you gonna believe? Me, or the greatest singer-songwriter-performer I have ever known?"
Classy fuckin' guy.

(My hair is not very long. Tho I am a bona fide hippie, living for 37 years next month in an aging hippie commune, having protested and been gassed and so on and so on, I have never worn my hair long.
It's pushin' 2 inches, and it's bugging me.)
