I sometimes wish I had the tools at hand to wipe some of these arrogant anti-AI people off the internet, preventing them from doing anything at all, maybe that'll teach them to stop being horrible animals.

@matt @alexchapman I absolutely see the ethical concerns around the overusage of AI, and a lot of it's use cases, but much like most technologies it's uses are be based on the user. I saw a post from someone that I've previously gotten along with that said "It is literally just a plagiarism machine.
It can not create anything. It can not discover anything.
It can not do anything but destroy the planet and steal labor.
It is an objectively evil concept.
@tjolsen @alexchapman I've read and continue to read those kinds of posts. I admit, they still sometimes make me wonder whether I'm being a selfish coward by still using these products.
@tjolsen And I disagree that its an evil concept and can't create anything, I've made it create some awesome accessible tools, and people wanna disregard that because of the ethical issues, well, everything that's been invented over the last 50 years has had ethical issues, so AI is no different. @matt
@matt I get the issues but the way they are going about it makes them look like inhuman or something, and one even goes as far to accuse those of us who use AI to be pedophiles and rapists, like that can't slide, I reported them but I'm starting to think a lot of instances won't do a thing, which is not good.
@alexchapman Right, so there's a lot of heat alongside the actual substance. But responding to heat with your own heat will just escalate things and produce nothing good.
@matt I would hope with enough heat and people outnumbering the haters it will make them get off these platforms and go let their hate out in their own group chats rather than in public.
@alexchapman It might be better to calm down, think about the issues they're raising, and see if you can refute them logically. The anti-AI people I've seen, at least the more thoughtful ones, have serious moral objections to the way these models are being made and the impacts of both their training and usage. That's not something to disregard lightly. I still frequently doubt whether I should be using these models myself, and for what purposes.
