I think the terrifyingly huge SpaceX Starship launch that's happening right now is the one that's planning to deploy a bunch of the new Starlinks that are not actually approved by the FCC yet because SpaceX knows that the FCC will eventually approve them because they approve literally everything and absolutely nobody with power cares about safety or pollution or Kessler syndrome or the future at all.

@sundogplanets They're operating under the old adage that "it's easier to get forgiveness than permission." What's the FCC gonna do, make The Great Muskrat go into space and bring them back? Even if the FCC denies approval, other countries will gladly approve them.

I am honestly losing track of what's what here, because SpaceX has so fucking many stupid ideas waiting for FCC approval right now. The comment period is currently open for SpaceX's "Gen3" Starlink satellites, where they want to have 100,000 more Starlink satellites in extremely low orbits.

You need to jump through some hoops to submit a comment still. Very good instructions for the hoop-jumping are here: https://aas.org/posts/advocacy/2026/02/how-submit-comments-satellite-applications-fcc, but use SAT-LOA-20260630-00264 instead of the number given in that website.

Note that the Reflect Orbital argued that since many of the thousands of comments on their stupidity were from a template, they shouldn't count. So you have to write your own unique text (they'll still ignore it, but whatever)

Will submitting a comment to the FCC help stop the FCC from approving any destructive, poorly planned idea SpaceX pulls out of their collective asses? No, they will approve literally anything.

But will these public comments help make a basis for future legal action, as well as provide writing points for any journalists covering the plans and the resulting destruction and pollution? Yes, yes they will.

Their website actually got significantly easier to navigate since the million sat filing (who knows why) and a sign-in is not needed to submit comments now (I think).
