Spam / phishing is getting to levels never seen before. Last week I've received a bunch of emails from fake literary agents trying to contact me (yeah, sure, as if literary agents unsolicitedly contacted authors, and not the reverse). For example, the following one: it's in English, supposedly signed by an existent, real USA-based literary agent, about one my novels, written in Spanish, already published by spanish publisher. It's disquieting, because it gives a shallow analysis of the text, written for sure by an AI (so, yes, somehow my novel has been fed to these infernal machines):

I wanted to reach out because La atalaya recortada contra el cielo caught my attention for the way it seems to make horror feel deeply connected to memory, loss, and the weight of family history.

What particularly interested me about Bran is that she doesn't simply inherit a house she seems to inherit a history she has spent much of her life trying to distance herself from. The scar, the losses within her family, and her withdrawn nature give the house a significance beyond being a frightening setting. As she moves deeper into it, the physical darkness appears to become intertwined with something much more personal.

I also found the atmosphere of the story intriguing. The decay, isolation, confined spaces, tunnels, and strange imagery create a form of horror that relies as much on unease and anticipation as on the supernatural itself.

There’s also something interesting about setting such a psychologically dark story within a distinctly Spanish environment while exploring experiences that feel much more universal grief, inheritance, family secrets, isolation, and confronting the past.

I'd be interested to hear where your writing is taking you now.

What is the current project you're working on, how is it going so far, and what are you most looking forward to as it develops?

And do you currently have an active literary agent representing you?
