"language specific counting style" is the last thing html could possibly address. i have a personal counting style which is the only orthographic quirk i've ever developed and it's literally impossible ro represent in any markdown dialect and overeager html email drafting software will require arcane sequences of key inputs to retain the formatting i intended

On the one hand, the web is functionally a proprietary aligned platform (everything outside your system and over the network can be taken away from you), on the other, if you're already on the web, then modern, often complex APIs are best for accessibility and diverse usability.
