The other day I was speculating on why we use "try TO something" vs. "try AND something". Because I realized I often use the latter, but consider it incorrect.
And then yesterday evening when I was writing something, I realized that actually, I use them in different contexts.
I wrote "try and" then realized that I should correct it to "try to". And then realized that in this particular case it didn't sound right.
I feel like I use "try and" for things that I know are possible for me to do. "I need to try and bleach my blouses".
But if I change it to "I need to try to bleach my blouses", it sounds to me like I'm not sure if the task is doable. Not as in "will it work", but as in "it might be too difficult to do".
In the former case it's a doable task. In the latter case it's something I might not be able to complete.
Weird.
@nazgul This is like the “yes and” episode of Ted Lasso.
