BTW, want to say that modern phone-cams are freaking excellent - it was *really* dark when this was taken - Pixel 10, no flash - and it’s only very lightly touched up in Lightroom. The picture would have technically impossible on any camera not so long ago.

@timbray Lately I got a Pixel too. Did you see the moving images it takes in certain situations? Google is doing something wierd with the JPEG format. When it decides to take many frames and choose the best one, it stores all of them in the file. It makes too large files and takes special apps to extract all the frames from the file. I have turned it off to send and upload smaller attachments.

@timbray While they are definitely remarkable, they have many problems that keep me from using them as much as I might. ("The best camera is the one you have" aside.) We have seen many manglings of images done by our iPhones and Androids in the last few generations, mostly I think due to AI deciding it knows better than we do what the picture is of (turning a pencil sketch into flesh, for instance) or having inexplicable geometric errors (pincushioning on one axis only). I prefer a real camera.
