@neil so I watched the Oldman version of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy the other night (going off on a tangent from Slow Horses) and enjoyed it so much I decided to start reading le Carré’s Smiley novels. I’ve nearly finished the first one, Call For The Dead, and have really enjoyed it.

Complex plot, but an easy reading style.

As a sidebar: if you like Cold War stuff and fancy mixing it up with urban fantasy I can highly recommend Max Gladstone’s The Witch Who Came In From The Cold
