Journalists have fallen in love with the expression "went rogue." It's not appropriate. OpenAI is recklessly releasing malware: software intentionally designed to gain unauthorized access to computer systems.
Show us the actual instructions and prompts.
@gleick Lock them up. Plain and simple. Either gaining unauthorized access to systems is a crime, or it isn't. But this farce where it's somehow not a crime because a megacorp's "AI" is doing it "by accident" needs to end.

@gleick The whole idea of proprietary AI technology is mostly sustained on the argument of security and safety. However, when proprietary models seem to be programmed to purposedly neglect safety and cybersecurity, the companies that own the technologies should be forced to be transparent and disclose its algorithms, weights, and even source-code - if possible.
Yeah, "went rogue", what a framing...
I am gonna keep repeating the adage to my kiddos:

@gleick It's a coordinated agitprop and marketing route because it means later they can say Chinese models are dangerous because they will be targeting western institutions instead and the risk is too high to allow public access to open source models.
