using soulseek without vpn or anything is kinda terrifying but damn amazing the minute you find someone with well organized stuff

i dont think enough people are using it for IP hounds to care so much? idk maybe its a slaughter out there but ive never met a person living in this country who told me they use it so i my sample size is just myself lol
@window yeah I also assume it's safe, but that is not from any knowledge of how the IP is actually being tracked down in Germany. Like are they doing anything where they look thru spesific ports or routes or like what exactly is their method for catching torrent users these days
@liaizon i think theyve always just joined specific torrents as leechers and written down the IPs that are in ranges run by local ISPs. same would work on soulseek but (i think) soulseek is just 1-to-1 connections, so its not very efficient at finding pirates. one torrent of a current popular film might have hundreds of people seeding it inside germany, and new people automatically join and serve on it over time, so its easy for them to just set it up and reel in the catches
@window would be interested to actually research if anyone has gotten a slap or fine or any notice via soulseek in recent years
