My new idea is. RsTP - Reed-Solomon transport protocol.

@amy i'm more interested in data integrity at rest but therr are lots of really cool ways to do this
@amy for an anonymous routing protocol i have the idea to do something like double ratchet/QUIC except with non-constant chunking, again to avoid replay attacks. this jives really well with again the same coding theory you describe above, where you can send not just raw chunks but erasure codes of such or suchlike
@hipsterelectron@circumstances.run lookup "set reconcilation with nearly optimal communication complexity" paper from the 90ies IIRC. It describes the algorithm designed to sync contacts for palm pilots and it's pretty neat.
Also I came up to RsTP when thinking about how TCP starts to fall apart in the face of really really huge latencies, like earth<>mars.
Why deal with packet loss by retransmission when you can just send extra
