So maybe not this then:
I grew up believing that I’m weak and didn’t deserve rest and didn’t have what it takes because my parents constantly called me lazy. They lied.
I’m the most strong willed person I know in my family and always had good judgement even as a teenager. I wish I could sustain that throughout my life.
But somehow they had this mission of diminishing my spirit and they had succeeded at times.
@Wallflower @farah ...is it good or bad that their inner voice is probably quoting random Monty Python lines... 
@farah You couldn't be more right.
I recall those halcyon days of long trips in the car with my father doing a monologue which always began with "Do you know what your problem is?"
I'm in my 60s and while the therapy definitely helped, I still feel the seething resentment.
