@TechConnectify As a person that used to be an engineer for Cummins and whose parents were boomers, I feel seen.
@TechConnectify my first was a 280Z with Bosch analog EFI — still some kludges. Nice production.
@TechConnectify The more complicated and computer-controlled modern cars get, the more I only want to those built before 1990. (My daily driver is a 1990 Miata, and it still has a computer.)
@TechConnectify I don't know about good. I do miss the simplicity of old cars (or farm equipment) without any of the fancy electronics.
They were complicated in other ways, but that complexity was manageable and they were fixable if you have a small shed workshop.

@TechConnectify That's a bit of an ageist opinion to hold about the Fediverse. Many of us are Old Farts. We remember the introduction of electronic fuel injection and cassette players :-).

I am pretty familiar with ECMs controlling systems, but it is always interesting to hear your take.
@TechConnectify This is STILL something I see folks arguing on car forums. "Just throw a carb on it, it's so simple!"
I've done FiTech and Holley EFI installs that are just as simple. Some even bolt to a carb-flange intake manifold. A couple more wires, but the result is a programmable computer with logging and active AFR adjustments. Meanwhile, carbs just flat-out can't be tuned to accommodate a 3000'+ elevation change (ie, my weekly commute down to Denver).
