that said, i would like kde to consider a few things, however there is no rush, take your time, none of that necessitates immidiate attention - in fact, the more time you take the better

1. the moderation team should analyze what went wrong in https://floss.social/@kde/117321498131018848 - equating procedural violations and being a nazi is not a message you want to send to anyone, the point of coc is for people to feel safe, and equating things like that does the opposite

2. the llm policy - i understand that from the standpoint kde developers the policy that barely restricted anything was seen as stricter than status quo of absolutely nothing

however, in terms of how it's perceived, it was very different - status quo indicates that the project didn't decide on a policy, unrestrictive policy is outright seen as being slop-friendly

i very much kde would push for a full llm ban, or if there is a need for tentative policy (because the contributors cannot decide on how strict the policy should be), the policy should make it clear that the policy doesn't take a stance on anything outside of the most clear parts, consider for instance https://github.com/rust-lang/leadership-council/issues/273 that directly states "This policy takes no stance on AI-assisted contributions in general", with the goal of eventually making a stricter policy

i very much hope that kde will get a no-llm policy, permissive policies tend to break projects (take a look at what happened with bevy - https://blog.fallible.net/it-breaks-a-village/)

also, i would like kde to consider the marketing potential of being against llm as a technology - libreoffice broke a download record after declaring it has no ai features - https://manualdousuario.net/en/libreoffice-download-record-no-ai/ - this is not to be underestimated

@kde@floss.social once again, if slop is not fully banned and made out to be inevitable, your policy is pro-slop. if you're harbouring slopwranglers, you're harbouring fascists, as those are one in the same.

But thank you all for great work. I've expressed my opinion on the topic in Nate's comments, my own posts on Fedi and my signature on kdeforpeople initiative, and I'm glad I've had the ability to do so. Because KDE community did gain a lot of trust through the years, I know a lot of you are doing what you believe is best.

We'll see how things go forward, nevertheless, I hope the community takes best course of action for entire project.
