@randahl Tariffs sound strong on paper, but do secondary trade measures actually make a tangible difference on the ground? With so many critical gaps in air defense and frontline supplies, I wonder if moves like this risk overshadowing the urgent support Ukraine needs right now. What do you think – does this genuinely move the needle against Moscow, or is it more symbolic?
@randahl How strange, he actually did something I agree with. Is that a first time?
@randahl enforce it, he will not. Waste of time this is — Political Yoda
@randahl
Hold up.
He signed it.
Doesn't mean he will follow through.
@ChrisHolladay very true. But I am quite sure Congress will use this to force his hand.
Behind the scenes there is a majority for Ukraine support.
@randahl looking forward to the implementation, but I doubt he will really hurt his puppet master b/c the law doesn‘t coerce the President to impose sanctions and there are too many exemptions … in the end we‘ll see more tarifs than sanctions
Yes, but does Trump know that?
@randahl I wouldn’t cheer to soon. No countries are named in the bill and Trump would probably rather use the bill to put tarifs on the large 🇪🇺 countries still buying 🇷🇺 gas/oil (as a punishment for 🇨🇦 association) than actually use the bill to do anything against Putin and 🇷🇺
