You ask them how we are going to switch to that from capitalism by using capitalism to do it and they link you to an article about UBI. Don't worry about it, you're going to have time to work on your code and art finally
Today that person is either fully disillusioned with all of it or is working at Anthropic
@cwebber ha! Thats fascinating! 30 years ago i was thinking that the internet and access to information will eliminate illiteracy and ignorance, and later will lower crime, wars, etc.
That faced with the overwhelming evidence of diversity of our planet most people will stop being so ignorant to each other.
@cwebber I am that someone. a decade ago I was an academic hanging around with people who were into effective altruism, worried about existential risk and took Nick Bostrom seriously. Some of that group now work for anthropic, and some of us are on the fediverse.
