It's fun to mock Canada, but any country that has a Strategic Maple Syrup Reserve (this is a real thing, look it up) clearly has a set of priorities that the rest of us can learn from.
@david_chisnall they don't take proper care of their reserve, since it took them a year to detect https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Canadian_Maple_Syrup_Heist
And anyway who would mock Canada, other than the kind of scum who shoot puppies? Oh, wait...
@david_chisnall for everyone's info Canada (specifically the province of Québec) supplies like 80% of the world's maple syrup.
The strategic reserve is to keep the supply chain going smoothly in case production gets disrupted for whatever reason.
@david_chisnall i have never understood why USA has never protected provenance status for products like France and, in some ways, Canada. it bothers me immensely.
@david_chisnall I wouldn't ever mock Canada eh
Mock us all you want but I have a strategic maple syrup reserve in my cellar and about 70 trees to make more in the new year.
A few years back there was a giant syrup heist!

@lolcat Periodically, I remember, and wish I had a strategic maple syrup reserve. My tactical maple syrup reserve is nearly empty.
Same sitch here - down to one serving of french toast's worth.
@david_chisnall I think only Americans mock Canada? And I guess it's the bully-competitor type of mobbing the kindness you don't recognise in yourself...?
@bettina No, we British people mock other Commonwealth members all of the time. And receive mocking in equal or greater quantities.
@david_chisnall @bettina fair, fair
I mean that's more like sibling squabbles anyway
@david_chisnall Sorry, I will leave you to it then!
@david_chisnall And that's just a decoy for what we're really hiding; don't fuck with us, we'll mess you up!
